SAFETY

  • Never cool a hot glass lid with cold water.
  • To avoid the risk of burns caused by oil boiling over or spitting, always use a high-sided pot for deep-frying and never fill the pot more than half full with oil. Refrain from using a lid and take care not to overheat (maximum oil temperature 200°C).
  • Only use sharp knives for safe and simple work to avoid injury
 

STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCTS

  • Before using for the first time, clean the cookware thoroughly in hot water.
  • Avoid over heating. Never heat your cookware empty or with oil on a high heat for longer than 2 minutes as overheating may cause the bottom of the pot to discolour. While this discoloration does not affect its performance, extreme overheating may damage the bottom. In this case, switch off the heat and allow the pot to cool on the stove.
  • If you’re cooking with salt, wait for the water to boil before stirring in salt. Adding salt to cold water may lead to extremely high salt concentrations at the bottom of the pot, which can cause corrosion spots. While these spots won't affect the performance of the pot, they can be difficult to remove.
  • Cookware with stainless steel handles is particularly suitable for use on gas stoves and in the oven.
 

NON-STICK-COATED PRODUCTS

  • Before using for the first time, clean the cookware thoroughly and cleanse in hot water. Dry, rub evenly with oil and heat briefly on the stove.
  • To protecting the coating, do not use a knife to cut food inside your cookware or any metal or sharp-edged utensils to stir. Use only plastic or wooden kitchen accessories.
  • Clean thoroughly after each use.
  • Avoid overheating. Never heat your cookware empty or with oil on a high heat for longer than 5 minutes. Overheating will damage the coating and cause it to lose its nonstick properties. If a pot has been overheated, leave it on the stove with the heat turned off and allow it to cool.
 

PHENOLIC HANDLES:

  • Phenolic handles are suitable to use on the stove and in the oven up to 180 degrees celcius.
 

KNIVES

  • To get the ultimate lifespan out of your knives, Fissler recommends washing knives by hand. To prevent corrosion, wash them under running water with a little dishwashing liquid and dry them carefully (from the blade spine toward the cutting edge).
  • Every knife becomes less sharp over time. The blade must be re-sharpened regularly.
  • Fissler recommends using a sharpening steel to sharpen your knives. To sharpen, draw the blade over the entire length of the sharpening steel several times, from the handle to the tip, on both sides of the blade. When doing so, the knife should be vertical and at an angle of 20° to the sharpening steel.
